The Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS) is an institute of the Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. (FVB). The FVB comprises seven non-university research institutes in Berlin which are funded by the federal and state governments. The research institutes belong to the Leibniz Association.
WIAS invites applications for a
PhD student position (f/m/d)

in the Research Group “Interacting Random Systems"
(Head: Prof. Dr. Wolfgang König) to be filled at the earliest possible date.
This position offers the opportunity for independent scientific research aimed at advancing your own academic qualifications.
Key areas of focus include:
- Stochastic processes in random environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Studying the behaviour of stochastic processes, for example those that describe the evolution of stochastic partial differential equations.
- Preparation of research results in scientific journals.
- Presenting the research results at workshops and conferences.
We are looking for: A motivated candidate with a background in mathematical probability and/or analysis. Applicants are expected to have completed a master’s degree (or an equivalent qualification) in mathematics or a closely related discipline. Candidates who have not yet obtained the master’s degree may still be considered, provided they can secure the degree before the start of the position.

The position is limited to three years. The reduced work schedule is 29.25 hours per week, and the salary is according to the German TVoeD Bund scale.
